Safe and Secure Square Footage

It can be tough to find a place for all your stuff as soon as you move in. There’s always an awkward dresser or a mismatched sofa, but there’s not always enough time to figure out where everything belongs.

The answer’s simple: get a storage unit, and keep the excess under control. And at iMoving, we have plenty of extra space. Our marketplace is packed with over 1000 movers and storage providers, wherever and whenever you may need them.

Whether you need it for just a few weeks or just a few months, we can connect you with safe, secure storage wherever you’ll be moving. From small lockers to full-sized garages, use iMoving to find storage, compare monthly prices, and book those extra square feet without missing a beat.

Room to Breathe with iMoving

There’s more to storage than a lock and a gate. It’s a great way to make move-in easier, and it’s a great way to cut down on stress.

More Time

We’re guessing you don’t want to pay your movers to camp out in your driveway. If you’ve got too much stuff to get sorted out in one day, you can send it to storage, keep it secure, and chip away at the excess on your own extra time.

Alternate Text

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Think of it as a chance to organize. If you’ve got boxes all over you new house, you can’t really get used to your new place. If those extra boxes are in a secure storage unit, you can find out what you can’t live without, and what you can slowly sell off or donate.

An Easy Staging Area

Moving out can be almost as complicated as moving in. If you need to vacate the premises pronto, keep your stuff in a storage unit instead of dumping it all out on the sidewalk. It’s safer, it’s cleaner, and we’re pretty sure you’re not allowed to clutter up the curb anyways.

Keeping Our Storage Suppliers On Lock

There’s storage you can trust, and then there’s storage that may or may not have weirdos living in the units. We make sure you’re dealing with legit storage providers, and we always check in to keep them honest.

Our research team does some snooping around for every storage supplier that wants to join our network. We make sure they’ve got all the right paperwork.

Customer Reviews

Of course, one of the best ways to measure a storage company’s worth is to just check their reviews. Our researchers check third-party sites to gauge real, up-to-the-minute feedback.

Undercover Shopping

When we finally approve a storage supplier, we don’t forget about them. We’ll occasionally have iMoving team members pose as customers to keep our storage companies on their toes.

Storage Services FAQs

There’s a storage unit in pretty much every shape and size, so your options are nearly limitless:

  • 5’ x 5’: Your basic 5’ x 5’ unit is about the size of a closet. These are great if you’ve got a few extra items or just need a spot to hide your holiday decorations for the time being.
  • 10’ x 10’: Moving on up, you’ve got 10’ x 10’ storage units, that (if you’re good at Tetris) can hold the contents of a studio apartment.
  • 10’ x 20’: The classic 10’ x 20’ is about the size of a one-car garage. Thanks to these dimensions, they’re great for vehicle storage.
  • 20’ x 20’: Barring the specialty shops, 20’ x 20’ is about where things top out. These are the size of a two-car garage. If you have A LOT of extra stuff, you’ll need one of these.

Depending on where you’re moving, you may need a climate controlled unit. Some places offer A/C, some offer heating, and some offer both.

Fragile electronics need to be kept cool so they don’t fry during the hotter months. Painting and wood items can warp if exposed to extreme cold. And of course, you always want to control humidity.

If you feel like scrambling around a little, you can score free boxes from bookstores, liquor stores, or your local office complex (if they’re all willing to part with their boxes in the first place, of course).

Otherwise, check out our moving box kits to get all the boxes and packing supplies you need in a few easy clicks.

Storage providers have similar ground rules to movers: You’re not allowed to store anything that can potentially damage your unit (or the whole complex, for that matter).

This means no explosives, non perishable items, and nothing that’s wet or pressurized. Firearms are also a no-go. If you need a place to store your guns, certain gun shops rent locker space.

A 10x20 storage unit can hold the contents of a multi-room house, including large furniture like couches, appliances, and multiple boxes. It’s suitable for a 3-4 bedroom home or large vehicle storage.

A 10x10 unit typically holds the contents of a one-bedroom apartment, including furniture, appliances, and boxes.

Yes, clothes can be stored in a storage unit, but it’s recommended to use airtight containers and moisture absorbers to protect them from humidity and pests.

The 10x10 storage unit is one of the most popular sizes, offering ample space for the contents of a one-bedroom apartment or small home.

A 5x10 storage unit resembles a walk-in closet and can fit a couch, small mattress set, or several boxes, making it ideal for small furniture or seasonal items.

Yes, a standard washer and dryer set can fit in a 5x10 storage unit, along with a few small boxes or additional items.

A 5x10 unit can fit about 10-15 medium-sized boxes, depending on the size and how well they are stacked.

A 5x10 or larger storage unit can comfortably fit a queen-sized bed, frame, and mattress, along with other small items.
