What Types of Moving Services in Alexandria, Virginia are Available?
- Local and Long Distance Moving – Home moves are some of the most common moves that you’ll see moving companies take care of. In many instances, you will be talking to local moving companies about what it is that you need to take care of and how to accomplish everything. Local moves are moves that are less than 100 miles in distance; long distance moves are more than that.
- Commercial and Industrial Moving Needs. Commercial and industrial moves are much more complex. They typically involve moving a lot of machinery and/or electronic equipment, and some of that has sensitive information associated with it. Special protocol needs to be adhered to when moving businesses to new locations. That’s why there are a handful of options out there that focus solely on helping with these sorts of complex moves.
- Storage Services – Storing items away because of a delay in a move or downsizing is quite common. Because of that, moving companies often have a number of storage units on their property so that they can assist with such things. They have a weekly or monthly rate, based on what you need, how large the unit is, and how long you need it.
- Miscellaneous Services. There are all sorts of other services that you can consider from moving companies, as well. Many of them will sell moving boxes and other moving supplies at a discount to those who are getting services from them. Others will offer packing and unpacking services, amongst other services that can help to alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with moving to a new home or business location. If you believe that you may be in need of additional moving services, talk to the company to ensure that those services are available and that they are included in your moving cost quote.
Some Moving Tips that Will Make Things Easier
-
Clean clothes can be great packing material
If you don’t want to spend a lot or you’re just trying to move on a budget, use your clean clothing in order to pack up your fragile items. It keeps them secure, you don’t need to find a place for some of your clothing, and you save money, too!
-
Compile a complete inventory list as you go
What is coming with you? However you wish to do so, put together an inventory list as you start to load things up. The more complete that your list is, the easier that it’s going to be for you to keep track of things and know that it’s all coming with you to your new place.
-
Put together a bag or box for overnight
Sometimes, you’ll have delays in when your items are getting to you or you just don’t have the energy to start unpacking after a long day of driving. Have an overnight bag or box available and in reach. That way, you can get your sheets out, take your nighttime pills, and get a good night’s sleep before tackling the unpacking the next day.
-
Give kids their own box to pack
If you’re worried about your child getting in the way as you pack, consider giving them their own box. Let them decorate it however they please and let them fill it up from things from their room that they want in there. It’ll keep them entertained and they’ll feel less nervous about the moving process.
-
Make your boxes distinct from one another
Labeling and color coding boxes can be a pretty solid way to make sure that you know what’s in what box and where it needs to go upon arrival at your home. The easier it is to see your system, the faster it will be to unload and the fewer times you’ll need to move boxes between rooms.
